The day’s been perfect, but the night will be even better. As the sun begins to sink in the sky, a whole new side of Cancun starts to dawn with a Caribbean energy and a Mexican flavor. This is Cancun at night. Trust us, sleep can wait. Start the evening off with a Margarita or a cerveza (beer) at happy hour. Many of the hotels in Cancun have lobby bars offering live music ranging from rock to reggae to jazz. Let the rhythm help you work up at appetite for a tantalizing late dinner.

As evening turns to night and a twinkling canopy of stars takes over the Cancun sky, the fun really begins. Cancun will prove again tonight that it’s a city that rarely sleeps. Whether it is the romantic or the outrageous you are seeking, Cancun has an outlet. Dinner cruises and party boats dot the lagoon. Authentic Mexican fiestas mean great eating and colorful entertainment. Try a salsa club to get your feet moving, or some live music from near or far away. How about a lively disco with a dazzling laser show, but be sure not to arrive before the fashionable crowd, never before 10:30 p.m.

If you prefer a more authentic glimpse into Mexico’s history and culture, the theme evenings in Cancun re-create Mexico’s rich heritage. Mayan rituals and Mexican traditions mix in a splash of light and dance at the Xcaret at Night Show, staged at the paradise setting of Xcaret. The local Folkloric Ballet is also an interesting glimpse into true Mexico.
