Beach Scenery, Hawaii Travel and Tourism Guide

My visit to island of Hawaii was a purely fun vacation and outdoor festive time. Combining the magnificent year round tropical weather conditions and the unusual culture, this island segment of the United States offered us an everlasting delight of the Polynesian island lifestyle as long as a few indispensable Etiquette rules were taken into account. While traveling in Hawaii, I found that the island represents one of the most ethnically diverse areas within the United States – or for that matter, the world – as there is no majority group. Everyone is a minority.  As a contemporary melting pot of America, half of the population of the state of Hawaii is at least part Asian, part Caucasian, and about a quarter of the residence claim Hawaiian ancestry. It signifies a unification of not only the Hawaiian modern culture but also represents a unique collection of the old Polynesian island flavor. This secret ingredient made our trip to Hawaii so distinctive.  The sincerity, the friendliness, and hospitality of the native Hawaiians all merge collectively to make our stay a pleasurable experience in the island.

Aloha Hawaii - Beautiful Traditional Hula Dancers at Honolulu Beach CampWith such an intermingling of old and new cultural values it is important that guests take their time to educate themselves regarding any of the native customs they may encounter. The main point to take into account while traveling in Hawaii is that it is part of the United States and consequently it is considered rude and offensive to refer to the mainland as America or to indicate that Hawaiians are not American citizens. We also learnt that only native islanders are referred to as Hawaiians whereas all others are referred to as residents of Hawaii. As coffee in the United States is only grown in Hawaii, we loved the unforgettable taste of Kona coffee. I was able to get good bargains while shopping. I picked up great, exotic clothing items, especially the Aloha T-shirts.  What really caught my attention was Hawaiian heirloom jewelry. I had never seen such pretty bracelets and other jewelry pieces before.  These jewelry items have local flora designs carved on them.

  1. I liked your review of Hawaii. Having a Hawaii related blog myself, I’m surprised that after looking around the blog sphere, there really aren’t too many of us Hawaiian bloggers. It’s especially interesting to note the ethnic breakdown of the population here. I live in town (Honolulu), and from what I’ve seen this last year living here, there aren’t many truly Hawaiian natives here. Seems like the asians and “transplants” from the mainland, like myself, outnumber them 10 to 1.
