Ireland Travel and Tourism Blogs: Dublin Views

As my aircraft completed its final approach towards Ireland I could hear its landing gear lock securely in place. I glanced out my window and could vividly distinguish below the beautiful island of Ireland. It was apparent that several factors, including the climate, had contributed a great deal to creating this beautiful Irish landscape. The stewardess remarked briefly on the loudspeaker that all castles of Ireland had a tale to convey. Upon our landing I had to  verify her statement immediately.  My initial quick tour was to the famous Trim Castle. I was astonished at the sheer size of this castle and its associated grounds. It simply had to be one of the largest and most significant of the Norman military constructions still in existence in Ireland. I glanced at its daunting curtain walls surrounding over three acres of land, I marveled at its fine gatehouses, and its enormous isolated keep, all of which cast a visually prominent image of foreboding might and vast power.

It was lunchtime when I arrived in Belfast and I sought to locate a exceptionally high-quality Irish restaurant. After a few moments of deliberation I resolved to dine at a saloon named the Crown Liquor Saloon. As I entered the door it promptly became apparent that this saloon was (actuality as its name indicated) literally the crowning glory of Northern Ireland pubs. The stunning woodworking within its walls symbolize the finest example of ornate Victorian Gothic décor.

As I entered and looked around the foremost feature to catch my eye was the sun streaming through the stained glass windows providing an atmosphere reminiscent of cathedral baroque era. I felt I had made a stride back in time to an era long forgotten until I observed the modern color TV intruding upon the serene scene. As I sat down at the table, I studied the area above me and became aware of the intricate ceiling of red, yellow and gold colors. It was breathtaking. I picked up the menu which listed typical Irish dishes based upon fresh ingredients like Irish stew, steak and kidney pie, champ and local fish and shellfish. The food was delicious and very filling. I finished my meal off with a pint of Irish Red Ale.
